Beast Form

6th-level transmutation

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V, S, M (fur, scales, a tooth, or a piece of horn from a creature of the chosen kind)
Duration: 1 hour
Classes: Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock

You transform into a beast of Tiny, Small, Medium, or Large size. Your game statistics are replaced by the beast's, but you retain your alignment, personality, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain your skill and saving throw proficiencies, gaining those of the creature if they are higher. You assume the beast's hit points and Hit Dice. If the beast has darkvision up to 60 feet, a flying speed up to 40 feet, a swimming speed up to 30 feet, or Keen Smell, you gain those abilities. You do not gain other special abilities.

The transformation lasts for the duration or until you revert to your normal form as a bonus action. You automatically revert if you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die. When you revert to your normal form, you return to your previous hit points; if you revert due to dropping to 0 hit points, excess damage carries over to your normal form.

You can't cast spells in beast form, and your ability to speak or perform actions requiring hands is limited by the beast's capabilities. However, transforming doesn't break your concentration on existing spells. You retain the benefits of your class, race, or other features, provided your new form can use them. You can't use special senses like darkvision unless the beast form has them. You choose whether your equipment falls to the ground, merges into your new form, or is worn by it; merged equipment has no effect.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level, the spell's duration increases to 8 hours. When using a spell slot of 8th level, the spell's duration increases to 8 hours. When using a spell slot of 9th level, the spell's duration increases to 24 hours.
