Prying Eyes

5th-level divination

Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: 1 mile
Components: V, S, M (a number of crystal marbles equal to the number of eyes to create)
Duration: 1 hour or until all eyes return or are destroyed
Classes: Sorcerer, Wizard

You create ten floating magical eyes that silently scout as you direct. When you cast the spell, you give a single command of up to 25 words, which all the eyes follow independently. They fly at a speed of 30 feet and can navigate simple environments on their own.

Each eye can see up to 120 feet using normal vision. It has +5 to Perception and Stealth, and it is subject to environmental effects and illusions that would hinder ordinary sight. Eyes cannot see in magical or nonmagical darkness unless lit.

When an eye returns to you, it replays everything it saw directly into your mind, taking 1 round to review each hour of scouting. Once it delivers its report, it vanishes.

An eye is destroyed if it moves more than 1 mile from you or is otherwise harmed. You do not know why an eye fails to return—only that it is gone. The spell ends early if all eyes are gone or have returned.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you create two additional eyes for each slot level above 5th.
