Ruokor
Ruokor are a proud and formidable people descended from the vanished giants of Xen'drik. Although diminutive when compared to their ancestors, ruokor tower over the common races of Khorvaire, and are renowned for their immense physical strength and resilience. They have a passionate and intense temperament, though most ruokor learn to channel this energy into a disciplined yet vibrant demeanor.
A ruokor's physical gifts are highly prized whenever great physical might, stamina, or martial prowess is called for. Many served in the Last War as heavy infantry or dragoons. In the tenuous peace they commonly serve as laborers, guards, and— in the criminal world— muscle. Their imposing physique lends itself naturally to roles requiring brute force or unwavering fortitude.
A ruokor's fiery influences their approach to life. Some work to restrain their innate passion, while others prefer to harness this internal flame to fuel determination and decisive action. Either way a ruokor seeks bold, tangible outcomes, achieved via the direct approach. They tend to quickly embrace new situations, leading with boundless enthusiasm while disdaining hesitation.
Ruokor value loyalty, camaraderie, and honor very highly. They form tight, lasting bonds with those who earn their trust and respect, and they fiercely protect these allies. They prefer practical, straightforward lifestyles and generally distrust sophistication or duplicity. They place great value on concrete achievements and personal accountability, respecting deeds far more than words alone. To ruokor, deeds are their language, loyalty their creed, and honor their legacy.
The nations with the largest populations of ruokor are the Shadow Marshes, Droaam and Breland, as these are where their ships typically put ashore. (See 'Ruokor Nationalities', below.)
