The Demon Wastes

The Demon Wastes lie beyond the Shadowcrag Mountains, northwest of the Eldeen Reaches, at the very edge of Khorvaire. The wastes are a cold desert, scarred and lifeless since the Age of Demons ten million years ago. In those times the surface world was ruled by fiends, loathsome creatures born from the depths of Khyber who oppressed the dragons of Eberron. The greatest among them were the Overlords— godlike archfiends. The dragons lead a war against the overlords that ended with their binding (for they could not be killed).

Their servants could be killed, and nearly all were. A few of these ancient horrors still endure. They plot in secret, working to break the chains that hold their masters and to unleash them once more. Their cults rise from the shadows, often drawing minions from the depths below. Against this threat stands a dedicated force of mainly humans, orcs, and half-orcs. They do not seek glory or conquest. Their purpose is containment. They hunt the spawn of Khyber, destroy cults where they find them, and strive—generation after generation—to hold the line against a danger that never truly dies.
