The Lhazaar Principalities
The Lhazaar Principalities form a loose and often lawless confederation of island realms, scattered across the storm-lashed sea off Khorvaire’s east coast. The region takes its name from Lhazaar, the storied sea captain who led the first wave of human settlers from Sarlona over three thousand years ago.
There is no true central authority here. The Principalities are a patchwork of small domains, each claiming sovereignty over a handful of islands. Most are ruled by pirate princes who command fleets rather than armies and treat their principalities more like private dockyards than proper nations.
The Principalities have long been home to a melting pot of peoples from throughout Khorvaire. During the Last War, refugees, deserters, and dissidents from every nation found their way to these waters, hoping to put a mountain range between themselves and central Khorvaire.
The Atran Isles
At the southern edge of the archipelago lie the Atran Isles, a distinct and infamous enclave near the Q’barran coast. Once a Zilargo penal colony, the gnomes of Atran declared independence during the war. The region now is an anarch-capitalist state rules by guilds and factions who principle export is organized crime— not too different, then, than the other isles of Lhazaar.
