Zilargo

Zilargo is a gnomish nation in southern Khorvaire, known for its charm and cleverness but defined by control. On the surface, it’s a land of good cheer, wholesome culture, clean streets and orderly services. It's the home of brilliant inventors, celebrated scholars, expert bards and skilled elemental binders. The Korranberg Library is sited in the same name, as are the publishers of the Korranberg Chronicle.

And yet beneath that polished exterior operates the Trust, a secret police network that roots out threats before they happen, relying on an unspoken culture of surveillance, informants and quiet fear.

The Atran Isles in the Lhazaar Principalities are a penal colony that the Trust had been shuttling its undesirables to for centuries. They rebelled during the war and became an openly criminal society. And yet in many ways they are less degenerate than the land of forced smiles that spawned them.
